In a historic leadership transition, Al Clise moves from Chairman and CEO to Executive Chairman. David Cuthill steps into the role of CEO, Bryan Joyner is promoted to President and CFO, and Lori Hill joins as Executive Vice President of Leasing. This thoughtfully assembled leadership team positions the company for strategic growth and a dynamic future.

Spokane enters the Clise Properties mix through the purchase of Spokane Valley Plaza, our first large retail property.

Clise officially enters the Bellevue market by acquiring the McAusland Building, a mixed-use retail building home to popular businesses like Starbucks, See’s Candies and Pasta & Co.

We make our first foray into the luxury residential real estate scene with McKenzie, a 40-story apartment building in Seattle’s Denny Triangle neighborhood. McKenzie, known for its unique elliptical design and breathtaking views, goes on to win Greystar’s Excellence Awards in the Pacific Northwest for Top Community of the Year.

We partner with McKinstry to bring the EcoDistrict project to life. The first operation of its kind in the world, the EcoDistrict uses recycled energy from the Westin Building data center to heat Amazon’s campus.

Clise strikes a deal with Amazon to purchase three city blocks for $207.5 million, marking an unprecedented sale that sets the stage for the tech giant’s new world headquarters in Seattle’s Denny Triangle neighborhood. Amazon later purchases even more real estate from Clise Properties to expand its growing campus, paving the way for strategic portfolio diversification in the future.

Tacoma’s Allenmore I & II enter our portfolio via acquisition, marking the company’s first ever medical office building. Allenmore I & II pave the way for future medical office building investments like the Sunrise Medical Campus in Puyallup, the Medical Pavilion in Federal Way and the Virginia Mason Medical Center in Lynnwood.

1700 Seventh Avenue emerges on Seattle’s skyline under the leadership of A.M. Clise. Built in partnership with Nordstrom, the class A+ office tower wins a number of awards, including NAIOP International Office Development of the Year, BOMA International’s Office Building of the Year, and EPA’s Energy Star Building Award.

A.M. Clise takes the reins of the company, kicking off an era of unprecedented growth and strategic vision.

Clise Properties celebrates 100 years of commercial real estate ownership, development, investment and management in the Puget Sound region.

Clise joins forces with Richard H. Hadley to collaborate with Westin and develop the Westin Building to house the Westin Hotels corporate offices. Over time, the Westin Building is converted into a major telecommunication hub, leading to our co-location company, FP2, and to future projects like the 2020 Data Center and the Ecodistrict project. The Westin Building remains the most significant building of its kind in Seattle.

Alongside renowned local developer Richard H. Hadley, we build the Denny Building and Sixth & Lenora Building, which join the Securities Building in the company’s Seattle Collection. Jazz Alley, Seattle’s oldest and most iconic jazz club, has operated out of the Sixth and Lenora Building for more than 40 years.

Alfred H. Clise takes the helm of Clise Properties, vowing to uphold the legacy established before him.

Charlie F. Clise, in his role as President of the Seattle Chamber of Commerce, guides the city through post-WWII economic recovery efforts. He forms committees for the successful conversion to peacetime activities like tourism and trade, and he’s lauded for his involvement in civic, charitable and educational institutions.

J.W. Clise passes the torch to his son, Charlie F. Clise, who takes over the company’s leadership.

The Securities Building, our first office development, is born. As one of the oldest and grandest office towers in Seattle, it remains celebrated for its unique blend of classical architecture and Art Deco design.

J.W. Clise arrives in Seattle the day after the Great Seattle Fire. He founds the company that is known today as Clise Properties, launching a legacy of real estate excellence that lives on four generations later.
