Broker Spotlight: Matt Walters
Commercial real estate is a multi-faceted industry, requiring a team of people from various disciplines to keep everything running like clockwork. Brokers are often the unsung heroes in this business. A talented broker is priceless, and we at Clise Properties are fortunate to work with some of the best.
For our first Broker Spotlight, we want to acknowledge and thank Matt Walters, First Vice President at CBRE. Matt was instrumental in our recent deal with Industrious, the second largest co-working company in the United States. Thanks to Matt's efforts, Industrious now leases two floors in our Sixth and Lenora Building in the heart of the Denny Triangle.
A Seattle-area local, Matt grew up in Redmond and attended the University of Washington before launching his brokerage career. When asked how he got into brokerage, he says, "I was always intrigued by the business and how it can shape a city." Matt works exclusively on the tenant representation side of things, working primarily with high-growth clients in the tech sector. He's also a founding member of CBRE's National Technology and Media Practice Group.
We asked Matt about his most interesting deal, and his answer will give you some insight into why we enjoy working with him so much. He insists, "They are all interesting and there is no such thing as an easy deal." Since starting his career 12 years ago, Matt says the field has changed. "It has gotten much more strategic and you truly need to be able to provide a platform of resources to your client to insure you drive value into your role as an advisor." He certainly provided that platform for us.
When he's not being a rockstar broker, Matt enjoys spending time with his wife and 1-year-old son, playing golf and traveling.
